Garage Door Capitals of America: Which States Have the Most Repair Companies?
Garage doors break everywhere, but the odds of having a repair company nearby vary a lot depending on where you live. We analyzed our index of 5,810 garage door repair companies across 48 states and 1,736 cities to find where homeowners have the most options, and where they have the fewest.
The headline finding: when you adjust for population, the big states do not win. Colorado is America’s garage door capital, with 4.85 repair companies per 100,000 residents, the highest rate in the country, ahead of Connecticut and California. At the other end, New York and Pennsylvania homeowners have the fewest options per capita of any well-populated state.

Methodology
This study is based on GarageDoorRepairNearYou’s directory of 5,810 garage door repair companies listed across 48 states and 1,736 U.S. cities as of June 2026. Per-capita figures use 2020 U.S. Census Bureau state population data. Rankings reflect the companies listed in our index, which aims to be comprehensive but may under-count in some markets. States with fewer than 10 listed companies were excluded from the per-capita rankings to avoid small-sample distortion.
